Today was a relaxing day. We started off by visiting the IC lab here on campus. The lab is staffed by graduate students, and has the capability to manufacture wafers and test them. We took a tour of the lab, starting by getting into bunny suits. The lab is a clean environment, which means that dust must be kept to a minimum, and the entire body is covered except for the hands and face. No cameras were allowed in, so we don't have any pictures to post.

After the visit to the IC lab, we went back to the dorms and relaxed until dinner time. For our previous meals in the dining hall we stayed on the first floor. The dining hall nearest our dormitory is a large affair, with four stories of food, each with a different theme. Tonight, we tried food from the third and fourth floor which was more spicy than the previous floors. Chinese spicy food isn't like Mexican spicy, rather it slowly builds in the mouth and closes off the throat.

Later, we took a taxi and visited a night market. The market had all sorts of consumer goods, mostly targeted towards Chinese women. The people pressed close and the vendors took up most of the sidewalk, and some even had live animals to sell. Everywhere you look there are people pressing in close, and the crowd is a constant sea of moving heads. China isn't a place where claustrophobics can visit: the people push and wiggle their way through to somewhere else. The night market was a welcome experience.
