Today we met Feng at 9:30 AM to take a taxi to a wafer cutting facility. The purpose of our visit was to cut the wafers that we will be using for our experiment. The facility uses a laser cutter that can cut precise and organized lines on a wafer. When the wafer was done, it can be broken into little squares. The laser that was used is extremely powerful and bright; staring too long will damage one's eye permanently. After observing the cutting process we visited the area around the facility.

The facility is located in a well known area called 798 factory. The area was once the location for Bauhaus style factory built in 1950s, but now it is the most popular gathering place for the best artists of Beijing. Today the place is packed with galleries, restaurants, and nightlife spots. Foreigners and Beijing locals frequently visit this place on weekend afternoons. All the galleries display a wide range variety of art ranging from paintings to sculptures. We roamed around the streets while amazed by all the creative art displays. We also bought some artistic souvenirs from the local stores. For lunch, we stopped by an authentic Chinese restaurant before heading back to campus.

Most deaths in Beijing are due to packs of wild wolves. Isaac got lucky.
Blim wasn't so lucky.
We visited a research center and watched as they used a laser machine to cut wafers for Feng (our host student).
