Christine Urrea

Christine Urrea is a third year Bioengineering major at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). She transferred to UCR from Moreno Valley Community College (MVC) where she currently works as team leader for MVC's STEM mobile innovation center (SMIC). The SMIC is a mobile lab dedicated to STEM outreach which goes to K-12 schools to promote STEM related pathways through science demonstrations and activities. At UCR Christine is Vice President of the Biomedical Engineering Society, a student organization that promotes professional and educational development and serves the local community. She is also a Peer Advisor for the Global Connections Partners Program, which partners local and foreign students in order to promote cultural exchange. After graduating from UCR Christine wants to attend graduate school and pursue research in tissue engineering. She is excited about going overseas for the first time and experiencing a new culture.

Crystal Han

Crystal Han is a third year Electrical Engineering Major at the University of California, Riverside. She has had experience at a biomedical company on checking for the quality of products, and learning the production process and specifications required. Although it was not closely related to her major, she enjoyed the experience in learning the process and theories. She also enjoys swimming and working with other people. In the future, she hopes to be more active and get involved in other research. She looks forward to her stay in China and plans to pursue a PhD in nanotechnology after graduation.

Juan Marquez

Juan is a third year undergraduate student at the University of California, Riverside, and he is majoring in electrical engineering. He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi honors engineering society, and he is an active member in UCR's IEEE student chapter. Juan is also a student intern at the College of Engineering Center for Environmental Research and Technology. He has participated in many outreach events both as an engineering ambassador for the campus tours office and with IEEE in events like Merit Badge Day. In the future, Juan hopes to continue his education and earn a masters degree. He is looking forward to his trip since this is the first time he will visit a new continent. He is excited to experience a new culture, and especially excited to try new and exotic foods.

Samson Solomon

Samson Solomon is a 3rd year chemical engineering major at UCR. Samson is highly interested in pursuing research as an undergraduate and his passion for research, with the added experience he has gained in labs has intrinsically motivated him to pursue a career focused in research and development. He joined AICHE, as a means of networking and gaining insightful professional help. In his time at AICHE, he was part of the VP external committee, responsible for arranging corporate presentations at general meetings, fundraising for t-shirt designs, plant tours and emailing companies for sponsorship for current research projects for the western regional conference. Currently as an active member in NSBE, Samson has grown in his networking skills, and taking advantage of the many opportunities like the recent Annual National Conference held in Boston that provides minorities, like him, ways to succeed in the engineering field.

Guthrie Price

Guthrie Price is a third year Computer Science major at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). His hobbies include the ancient Chinese board game Weiqi, which he has competed in nationally, reading science fiction, and making small projects on an Arduino. While attending a tournament for Weiqi at a young age he met his mentor who introduced him to Computer Science. He attended Moreno Valley Community College before transferring to UCR where he began working for the Moreno Valley College STEM Mobile Innovation Center (SMIC). The SMIC is a mobile lab dedicated to STEM outreach which goes to K-12 schools to promote STEM related pathways through science demonstrations and activities. At UCR Guthrie is a Supplemental Instructor for Computer Science courses and a member of the Gamma Beta Phi honors society. He is looking forward to the trip to China to experience a new culture and make friends overseas. After graduation he plans to either pursue graduate research in artificial intelligence and machine learning or enter the computer security industry.
